It is very important to verify meter accuracy and calibrate, as necessary, with an accurate calibration container. Meter calibration is critical for accurate fluid measurement.  Variations in fluid characteristics, viscosity shift due to temperature changes, and varying flow rates can affect the accuracy.  An accurate measurement container is important to facilitate the verification and calibration process. The GPI Calibration Container has been designed to provide an accurate, economical calibration measure.  The blow-molded polyethylene construction makes it very strong and durable, yet lightweight.

Use the GPI Calibration Container with most noncommercial liquid flow meters.  Follow the meter manufacturer's calibration instructions when field calibrating the meter.  Each container is individually calibrated at the factory to an accuracy of +/- 0.5 percent.  Accuracy may vary depending upon fluid and temperature at the time of use.

Before each use, make sure the container is clean and the scale-reading area is clear for best visibility of the fluid level.  Place the container on a flat level surface.  Fill to the 5-gallon or 20-litre marker on the scale. Allow for any foaming action that may occur.

NOTE: Varying lighting conditions may make it difficult to view the levels of certain liquids through the container material. If this occurs, position the container directly in front of a light source, such as a flashlight, to improve liquid level viewing.  After filling the container with fluid to the zero mark, check the meter reading. The meter reading should match the dispensed units in the calibration container.  Recalibrate the meter if the error margin between the meter reading and the container scale is not satisfactory.  Clean the container thoroughly after each use to prevent any residue buildup and to maintain maximum accuracy. To clean, flush the container with water or the chemical manufacturer's suggested cleaning fluid and replace the container lid.

Warning: To avoid chemical exposure, follow chemical manufacturer's instructions for the disposal of contaminated water.
