Pressure Drop Curves-G2 Industrial Grade Turbine MetersFor the purposes of this page, Pressure Drop is defined as the difference in pressure between the inlet and the outlet of a specific Flow Measurement device.  Pressure drop occurs when frictional forces, caused by the resistance to flow, act on a fluid as it flows from one side of flow meter to the other. 

Resistance to flow could be caused by a number of different determinants including obstructions in the flow path (i.e. turbine assembly, oval gears, etc.), flow velocity, surface conditions, etc. to name just a few.
