Type ULF Ultra Low Flow Sensors |
FlowX3 |
|
The Type ULF Ultra Low Flow Sensors consist of a transducer and a four blade paddle wheel rotor with a permanently mounted magnet inside each blade. A square wave output signal is generated with frequency proportional to the rate of rotor rotation and flow velocity. The Pulse Output is normally fed to a FlowX3 Battery Powered Flow Monitor,
or externally powered Flow Monitor/Transmitter, Blind Transmitter, Batch Controller or Adjustable Flow Switch. For simple flow indication, the output can be fed directly to a PLC.
Flow Sensors are available in two styles; Hall Effect, which requires a 5 to 24 VDC power supply and Reed Effect which operates on 3-5 VDC. Coil Effect Sensors are used for all Battery Powered flow monitors. Hall Effect signals can be transmitted up to 984 feet (300 meters) without the need for signal conditioning equipment. Coil Effect signals can be transmitted up to 52 feet (16 meters) with conditioning. |

| Installation Guidelines |
|
-
The sensor can be installed in any position, horizontally or
vertically, although horizontal is preferred. A non-horizontal
installation may cause a greater error on the low side of the flow range;
-
Install the sensor with the flow indicator arrow pointing in
the direction of the flow;
-
Maximize the distance between the flow sensor and pumps,
valves, elbows, or other obstructions that may cause turbulence at the flow
sensor. 6" of straight pipe up and downstream of the flow sensor is
suggested. |
