Transit Time Flow Meters are the meter of choice when considering Ultrasonics for measuring relatively clean, homogeneous fluids. Sensors, mounted in a V-Pattern on the outside of the pipe, send and receive a signal that travels both with and against the direction of flow. Signals traveling with the flow travel faster than those traveling against it.   "Transit Times" are compared to one another, with the difference being directly proportional to the rate of flow.
